<< BackWebsite Launched for New Edwards Center
The Henry Center is pleased to announce the web presence of a sister center, the Jonathan Edwards Center at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School: http://jecteds.org. The new site comes following the official formation of the center in January of this year.
Visitors to the site will find information about the center, details on upcoming lectures, and a regularly updated blog which includes brief book reviews by JEC Director Doug Sweeney. Those interested in Edwards studies will want to take note of the first two lectures held for the JEC at TEDS. Richard Muller of Calvin Theological Seminary will speak on “Jonathan Edwards and the Absence of Free Choice” on September 29, 2010 at TEDS. George Marsden of the University of Notre Dame will speak on “Jonathan Edwards for the Twenty-first Century” on Nov. 3, 2010 at TEDS.
The Jonathan Edwards Center is a ministry of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Located on the campus of TEDS (Deerfield, Illinois), it exists to promote and serve the conversation unfolding on Jonathan Edwards, America’s preeminent pastor, theologian, and philosopher. It has a special concern to support scholarly work on Edwards and his international influence, but will also play a role in making Edwards more accessible to pastors and church people.
The Center began its work in January 2010 under the direction of Dr. Douglas A. Sweeney (MA '89). It is one of a number of satellite centers related to the original Jonathan Edwards Center at Yale University and is the only other extant center in North America. It features two major lecture series and a special online collection of research works, and seeks to be a hub for studies of Jonathan Edwards and his world for a wide-ranging constituency.
